No E. coli source found in Sisseton

Aberdeen American News - 8/14/2019

Aug. 14--The state's investigation into an E. coli outbreak in Sisseton is done, but officials did not determine where the bacteria originated.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Josh Clayton said the Department of Health investigated 10 lab-confirmed cases reported in late July. Not finding a source isn't unusual, he said.

In the case of a multi-state E. coli outbreak, he said, a source can be determined. But if it's food, figuring out how and when E. coli contamination occurred can be difficult.
